I had the honor to run the Virgin London Marathon for the charity Lepra – health in action. Running the London Marathon for Lepra because it’s all for an amazing cause. If you get the opportunity to do it, please go ahead because it’s about raising awareness and support.
About the charity Lepra
Today 600 people will be diagnosed with leprosy, almost 50 will be children. We work with communities in Bangladesh, India, and Mozambique to cure and care for people affected by leprosy. With your help, we can give more people this life-changing support. Together we can beat leprosy
Story
The reason why I have chosen Lepra is on a family holiday to Crete in Greece about 9 years ago we went on a guided day trip to a small island called “Spinalonga” (known as Kalydon nowadays).
We had a great tour guide who explained to us everything about the history on the island and showed us photos of the people who were affected by the lepra disease. As you maybe know does the disease causes open wounds on the body, particularly on hands and legs. Sometimes it causes the entire loss of fingers and toes. In those days leprosy often gave large frightening wounds in the face resulting sometimes the loss of nose and ears.
I still haven’t forgotten about that yet and during the tour, I became very thoughtful, therefore I thought in this way there is a connection between the charity and me. Again, I am very honored to be running for such a great cause and I will do my very best to hit my target of £1,650.
I started the 24-week intermediate training on the 8th of November 2012. My target to finish the race is 3:20:00.

Finisher photo and I believe I look very finished haha

Couldn’t have done it without my amazing friends’ support. Love you all x

I TRAVEL FOREVER’s VIEW
This was an amazing experience besides the personal challenge doing something so great for a charity with a focus to fight lepra disease. This is also to raise awareness that nowadays people still suffer the disease. I expected it to be easier to raise 1.650 pounds but I’m fairly happy reaching 88% (ca. 1.452 pounds) for Lepra – health in action.
