Being in Thailand for the fifth time, I decided to have a Thai Massage every day. It was like, “I won’t go to sleep before I have a massage” kind of mood, and it is just so much cheaper than in Germany (60 USD vs. 12 USD for 60 minutes oil massage). The one on my last day in Koh Phangan was more than just a massage since I didn’t feel so good that day. Here, I share what made it so special…
After a beautiful day chilling and sleeping in the hammock on the beach at the V-View Beach Resort, where we sneaked in (secret spot at MOO 1), I felt pretty exhausted and had a slight fever. After a beautiful sunset with my friends Jenn, Alaa and Akhi, I had a healing Thai massage booked through the trainer from the Muay Thai place where I had trained the days before. The masseuse was apparently well recommended and known by the fighters. While riding to the massage studio on my motorbike, I was already feeling cold, but I felt good enough and ready for the apparently “painful” massage.
Miss Knox – The Healing Thai Massage on Koh Phangan Island
She welcomed me and I selected the healing Thai massage, because after all the Muay Thai training, I really needed something to rejuvenate my muscles. The massage studio was very modest equipped and simple with only two massage tables. It seemed that the studio was located in her living room with all her massage certificates and a big muscle chart, surrounded by two or three fans. The first difference compared to other Thai massage studios was that Miss Knox asked me to keep my underwear on. The massage was also very different than all the others I have had as the next thing she did was stand on my legs and put her weight on them to go really deep into the muscles – wow that was intense. She continued making her way up my back which was intense and painful, but felt really, really good. The fan was running and after about 10 minutes, I ask for it to be turned off as it was really cold and the massage not enjoyable – so she turned it off. I started shaking, as it still seemed really cold, so Miss Knox decided to cover me and I felt really weak.
The next thing she did for me (a stranger) was amazing, and I thought I had to share it with you to demonstrate how nice people in the world can be and I love that. She went to a different room and brought back two little muffins and a hot cup of tea, and told me to drink and eat it – which was very delicious. Then she disappeared again to get Paracetamol and another hot tea, which was just incredible, and really helped me get my body temperature warm again so I wasn’t as cold anymore. She continued the massage but first covered me everywhere with blankets and towels. Guess what, she even covered my head and face for me to stay warm, then massaged it. She kept checking my temperature and when the trainer called (probably to book another appointment for someone), she told him about me.
I think I ended up staying there for about an hour and 20 minutes, but she wanted to charge me less as she couldn’t do the full massage. At this point, I really wished I could have communicated with her, but unfortunately she did not speak English and nor did I speak Thai.

When I arrived back at the hostel, I was so happy and shared the story with my friends. Wow, what a day to be grateful for ! I really couldn’t believe that I had been so lucky to have a person who doesn’t even know me take such good care of me. The Thai Massage from Miss Nok’s was incredible because she had a very different way of massaging, i.e. her feet and also went very slowly but precise and detailed into each muscles because she just knows where to push – amazing !
I TRAVEL FOREVER’s VIEW & RECOMMENDATION
If you go to Koh Phangan, you cannot leave without a Thai Massage at Miss Knox’s or better yet, if you go to Thailand, you cannot miss out on a Thai Massage with her.
